Sample Problem

There are 1500 passengers on a train. 10% of them are children, 80% of the remainders are adults and the last remaining are seniors. How many seniors are there on the train?

seniors

Solution

Use the formula: Part = Whole × Percentage

The number of the non-children passengers: 1500 × (100% – 10%) = 1350

The number of seniors passengers: 1350 × (100% – 80%) = 270
