Sample Problem

There are 105 cars, 35 vans and 21 trucks on a vehicle show. Find the ratio of cars to motors to trucks in its simplest form.

Solution

There are 105 cars, 35 vans and 21 trucks, so the ratio should be 105:35:21. Then, find its simplest form:

105:35:21 = (105 ÷ 7) : (35 ÷ 7) : (21 ÷ 7) = 15:5:3

The ratio cannot be divided by any common factor. Such ratio is in its simplest form.
