Sample Problem

Tina bought 12 bags of salmons. Each bag of salmons weighs 15.5 oz.

Emmy bought a big bag of salmons. The weight is 16 lb.

(1) Who bought more salmon? (Type “Emmy” or “Tina”)

(2) How many more salmon? oz.

Solution

(1) Tina: 15.5 oz. × 12 = 186 oz.

Emmy: 16 lb. = 256 oz.

So Emmy bought more salmon.

(2)  Difference: 256 oz. – 186 oz. = 70 oz.
