Sample Problem

The slope of a line is 3 and the y-intercept is 1. Write the equation of this line in slope-intercept form.

y = x +

Solution

A linear equation of a slope-intercept form y = mx + b , m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

Plug m = 3, b = 1 into y = mx + b

The final equation would be y = 3x + 1.
