Find the heaviest a child can be in order to ride on a kiddy ride by writing an inequality to represent this situation, then solving it. Round your answer to the nearest pound.



An inequality representing this situation would be

|w – 80| < 10

w – 80 < 10 or w – 80 > -10

w < 90 or w  > 70

The heaviest a child could be is 90 pounds.
