What is the standard form equation of a line with slope 4 that passes through the point (2,3)?

Solution

From slope-Intercept form y= ax +b, by given a point (2,3) and the slope 4, we can find the y – intercept of the equation:

3 = 4(2) + b

3 = 8 + b

-5 = b

y = 4x – 5

We can then rearrange this into standard form ax+by=c:

-4x + y = -5
